Insect diversity in tree canopies

Insects represent the highest number of species on earth. In this working package we will assess arthropod diversity of a church forest, in the forest as well as in the adjacent agricultural fields, and along the forest edge. Hereby we consider insects on the ground (e.g. grasshoppers), as well as flying insects (in the tree canopy, mid-height, and near ground level). We will use flight-interception traps (also equipped with LEDs during night). This activity will be mainly supervised by Jonas Eberle, Martin Husemann, Jan C. Habel.
