Social Science
In addition to the various topics and activities in the field of natural sciences, social science aspects were also dealt with in the BIOCULT activity. A group of four students (Safina Barua, Timothy Musa, John Kageca, Martin Muriithi) led by the PhD student Bonaventure Obeka conducted surveys among the population of Taita Hills. In the course of this survey the following topics were worked on: The social value of sacred sites and traditions, 2. Cultural beliefs and modern life, 3. Land use practices, 4. Awareness and willingness towards forest conservation. This activity is led by Prof. Halimu Shauri (PU).
