We started our activities in the Taita Hills in southern Kenya with a one-day workshop at Taita Taveta University (31st of August 2021). During this workshop, the structure and the aim of BIOCULT was explained, and then the individual working packages (land use, social sciences, vegetation ecology, and zoology) were presented and discussed. The workshop was attended by all project participants of Taita Hills field work, students and scientists, as well as technicians, including Professor Halimu Shauri from Pwani University (Pwani University) and Dr. Marianne Maghenda (Taita Taveta University). Some of the input sessions were held online due to COVID-19 restrictions. A complete overview of the talks, topics and speakers are compiled in the programme here.
