Ecology of bird species

In the still partially intact forest of Kaya Kambe, numerous typical forest bird species can be found. Mist-nets and observations (visual and acoustic) were used to determine the bird diversity for Kaya Kambe (as well as the forest boundaries). The data collected allows conclusions about potential negative edge effects. This study was conducted by Doreen Kinya (University of Nairobi), Kamelia Mahmoud and Tobias Acksteiner (both PLUS), guided by Beate Apfelbeck (PLUS), in close cooperation with Onesmus Kioko and Moses Mulwa (National Museums of Kenya).
